Introducing Glow Lighting

Glow Lighting

In 2015 Emily Butterill established Glow Lighting, she wanted to design and manufacture traditional lighting with a contemporary twist.

Emily had grown up surrounded by lights and lighting.  Her late father ran a successful British lighting manufacturing business. Her husband has his own commercial lighting company.   With over 20 years in the industry her knowledge of lumens, watts, light levels and the effect and impact they can make is extensive.

Emily has harnessed traditional glass blowing and metal spinning techniques but brings with it a contemporary styling that suits present day interiors. The entire collection is designed by Emily, her grasp of colour and design enables her to bring out the intrinsic beauty of the materials, which are brought to life in 13 shades of exceptional quality glass. This unique lighting can be hung in singles or clusters

Making all the lights by hand means every element is fully customisable. Emily can offer a choice in size and colour of glass, metal finish plus cable length and colour. This enables Glow Lighting to manufacture traditional lighting that is truly individual.

Duravit – keeping warm in the bathroom this winter

Winter trends in the bathroom

A great thing about the cold season is that you can luxuriate in a bath, such as the Cape Cod bath from Duravit; immerse yourself in a warm bath to unwind relax and loosen tight, cold muscles. Designer Philippe Starck intuitively placed well–being at the heart of his creation.

Hygge in the bathroom

The icing on the cake of any dull, grey, winter day is to create some “hygge” – the Danish art of homeliness into the bathroom. Ideal companions for the baths are furniture and accessories that exude a sense of nature and warmth through their colour and shape. These include untreated woods and authentic decorations in subdued tones.

Light in the bathroom

Alongside natural candlelight, dimmable mirrors and mirror cabinets are ideal as lightening in the bathroom that can be adapted to any requirement. They create a lightening accent in the room and bathe the washing area in a pleasant light. The latest innovation in the field of mirror lighting is the seamless adjustment of the light colour.

VASCO – Adding Colour

Vasco Bold Bright Oni

COLOUR PREDICTIONS FOR 2019

Banish the beige and embrace vivacious and vibrant colours such as a Carmine Red or Melon Yellow from Vasco’s extensive, contemporary colour palette.

Be bold and beautiful when selecting a radiator, break away from safe, muted shades in favour of intense show-stopping colours. White and cream effortlessly blend into a room, but a bolder colour can be just the wake-up call a room needs.

VASCO’s carefully selected palette of 56 colours is guaranteed to help inject new life into your home.   Until recently if you wanted a colourful radiator – you painted it yourself and hoped the finish wouldn’t look too unprofessional.

Historically, cast-iron radiators tended to be the same colour as the walls, as the radiator was viewed as  a functional piece of equipment that needed to be disguised.   This is no longer true; as the heat efficiency and design of radiators has improved they have been embraced by interior designers enabling VASCO’s radiators to now take centre stage.

Advantages of Colour Radiators

A designer radiator in a bright or contrasting colour can be a wonderful statement piece and is an ideal way of introducing a colour accent to a room without over powering the space. In a living room where white dominates, it’s better to choose a radiator in a dark or strong colour; such as wine red, dark green or even petrol blue.  This bold accent can then be picked up with accessories or soft furnishings.  In 2019, whether you opt for a dark blue, black, metal or soft pastel colour – a designer radiator will not fail to enhance a room.

VASCO: RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT WITH SUSTAINABLE HEATING

The VASCO name is synonymous with sustainability, having won a number of design awards for their 100% recycled, energy efficient, aluminium radiators.  The production of raw aluminium is both extremely expensive and damaging to the environment, so VASCO consciously opts to only produce their radiators from recycled aluminium, which ensures their finished product can be smelted down and re-used.

VASCO was the first manufacturer to move towards a 100% sustainable product with the guarantee of optimum recycling without the loss of quality.   All VASCO’s aluminium radiators are produced using 100% recycled material which can be anything from aluminium drinks cans to scrap, examples include Bryce, Beams and ONI.
