Earlier this year Duravit were due to unveil the stunning new additions to their Happy D.2 Plus series. Lockdown halted this but the products will now available in the UK from July.

High design standards in bathroom design

Designed and created exclusively for Duravit by sieger design there are two new versions for the washing area, which both include totally new patent pending c-shaped technology.   This ensures that the ceramic washbasin and furniture are perfectly parallel, with no overhang or recess at all.  

Take a seat

The floor-standing, metal consoles are height-adjustable, with an integrated towel rail and there is the option to add a shelf or built-in drawer.    A seat with an integrated drawer, can be added either to the left or right of the console. There is a stylish cushion on the seat in matching greige, made from a woven fabric specifically suitable for wet rooms.

Unless it’s the new Reframe Collection Corner Shelf

Most bathroom shelving is linear because corners; in reality tend to not be an exact 90 degree angle.   The beauty of the new corner shelf is not only visual but practical as it adapts to the shape of the corner in which it is placed.  The shelf has an anti-slip barrier to ensure shower essentials do not slip when the shelf is wet, whilst discreet grooves enable excess water to drain away easily.

The shelf is created from a reinforced steel plate and is available in five different colour options; copper, brass, brushed stainless steel, hand polished stainless steel and black.

Mkira has been selected as one of the UK’s emerging brands for 100% Design where they will be show casing their beautiful and unique collection of fabrics and furniture.

These products have been inspired by nature’s canvas and crafted using age old traditions.  The collection includes; daybeds, headboards, cushions, throws, fabrics, lampshades, footstools and shelving. 

All the pieces are created using raw, natural materials such as British linens and tweed from Donegal. They have been sustainably sourced from around the British Isles the perfect counterbalance to the modern ‘throwaway’ culture.

Charlotte England, the designer behind Mkira, spent time travelling around the globe. This enabled her to try her hand at a wide variety of alternative arts and crafts. 

This included studying pottery in Japan with a renowned sensei; traditional paper-making in the Japanese mountains; basket weaving among the Tepuis in the Amazonian basin and life-drawing in Miami. 

The wide range of inspiring experiences shaped her personal style and design objectives and led her to create Mkira.   As part of the creative process, Charlotte has teamed up with a number of small, authentic, family-run businesses. All use traditional methods to expertly craft these beautiful and unique collection of fabrics, furniture and enduring pieces.
